Help! Trouble starting my 1991 190e 4cyl. Mercedes?
For the last few days I have been having a hard time starting my car, I have to keep pumping the gas pedal hard while cranking it before it will finally start. It cranks but doesn't seem like it is getting any fuel. I used to be able to just turn the key and it would start without giving any gas at all. Once it is running, it doesn't stall out and it doesn't seem to be running roughly. It does run hot because it needs a new fan clutch, but I recently replaced the voltage regulator so I don't think that or the alternator or battery is the problem. Also, does anyone know where I can get a model specific repair manual, like a Chilton or something of the sort? I can't afford to pay a mechanic, so it would be great if I could just fix it myself. I got a "Mercedes Technical Companion" but it is not very helpful. Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated!
well pumping the gas while starting really does noting if I'm not mistaking it's fuel injected system and the computer the one spiting in the gas It could be (fuel filter,fuel pump) or you may be losing pressure somewhere but you can check out the auozone trouble shooting site
a great repair manual I like is Haynes repair Manual (it a complete tear down of your car and repair info) its what i use to fix my car its a great book. you can find these books at autozone or and advance auto parts or any auto store. good luck
