I was born in England
in 1956. After leaving school I travelled widely in Europe and Asia
for several years before spending fourteen years in a Buddhist monastery.
After leaving the monastery
in 1994, I settled in Scotland and began designing and making patchwork
wall-hangings and fabric collages. Traditional patchwork quilts
and techniques were the starting point of my earliest efforts, but
my attitude and approach were significantly altered on seeing a
small, framed quilt amongst large, functional quilts at an exhibition
in the United States. Inspired by this, I found a direction and
since1999, I have exclusively made small pieces: the
smallest being 4inches (10cm) square, the largest 11inches (28cm)
by 24inches (60cm). All are made to be framed.
I have been invited to
give talks about my work and to exhibit in galleries in Scotland,
Lebanon and Norway. I also give
weekend courses where I teach the techniques I most frequently use. Please
contact me for further information. |
